Meyer Timber Joins The Builders Merchant Federation

Meyer are delighted to have become members of the Builders Merchants Federation.

Meyer is the foremost specialist distributor in the UK for wood-based panels. With over half of all our sales being into the builders merchants’ sector, we have considerable understanding of the sector’s needs and our customers know that they can rely on a prompt and reliable service that will support their project or business.

New product ranges are regularly brought to market, ensuring that customers are always first to benefit from the latest market innovations and we exercise considerable technical expertise in helping customers to understand what their products can and cannot do. By enjoying representation on several technical committees, we are at the forefront of the industry, in particular with regard to understanding the European Standards to which almost all of our products are now classified.

David Siggins, our Commercial Director, explains why the time is right for Meyer to join the BMF: “We are constantly reminded about how little is known in the Merchant Sector about European Standards and how they are used to define the performance of wood-based panel products. For example, the term WBP is completely obsolete, as not a single plywood on the market today is made to the British Standard that gave rise to it. All plywood is classified to European Standards but the specification sector remains stubbornly unaware. The mismatch between specification and product is causing significant problems in the Builders Merchants sector and membership of the BMF is our opportunity to address that”.

We have been providing detailed and technical training on our products for many years and will be pleased to talk BMF members who wish to learn more.
